QLD: Internet to affect shopping centres conference

GOLD COAST, April 12 AAP - Predictions that Australian shopping centres faced death by
"millions of key strokes" because of the Internet revolution were premature, Property Council
of Australia national president Carol Schwartz said today.
Ms Schwartz acknowledged that the Internet, along with new demographic forces, would change
the face of shopping centres in the Australian retail industry.
However she told journalists at the Shopping Centres of Australia Conference on the Gold
Coast she was confident they would continue to keep their important role in the community.
