For some the discovery of the Dakar came too late. Ella and Yehezkel Pulerevitch both died some years back. They lost their only child, Dr. Ya'acov Shabi Maor, on the ill-fated submarine. He was its crew's physician, who volunteered for submarine duty.
With his parents now gone, there are few today who can reminisce about Maor, 28 years old when he died. It was a mere few weeks before he was to marry. His fiance gave birth to his son several months after the tragedy, but the son never met his father.
The one monument left for Maor are the many volumes of poetry and poetic prose by his own father, who is perhaps best known by his literary pseudonym of ...
