SOME Bt108 million in government grants is heading for political
parties in order to help fund their activities, seek new members and theoretically
make them independent from capitalistic financial supporters.

The parties get different amounts of funding, depending on the number
of their MPs, branches and members.

Large and well-established ones, such as the Democrat Party and the
New Aspiration Party (NAP), will get the lion's share of the grants, Bt34
million and Bt33 million, respectively. But small ones will get far less,
no more than Bt800,000 each.

For bigger parties the large amount of funding they get could barely
cover their normal ...
