NSW: PM salutes 100 years of Australian test rugby

SYDNEY, June 23 AAP - From cricket tragic to alleged rugby fanatic, Prime Minister John
Howard swapped sport to salute 100 years of Australian test rugby here tonight.
Days after honouring Australia's world champion cricketers, Mr Howard proposed the toast
before 500 guests at rugby's lavish centenary dinner at Sydney Town Hall.
The dinner recreated the reception the Lord Mayor gave the visiting British team in June,
1899 and was an appropriate venue as Sydney mayoral rivals Frank Sartor and Nick Farr-Jones
united in rugby's name.
