Sand Creek Massacre site to be memorialized

The site of one of this country's most horrendous assaults on American Indians is a step closer to becoming a National Historic Site.

The site of the Sand Creek massacre, one of this nation's most embarrassing moments in history, eventually will be developed and the story interpreted for visitors with the help of two American Indian tribes whose ancestors were victims of the brutality.
