TYLER, TOO: Henry Hyde, God and the GOP

Rep. Henry Hyde (Republican, Ill.) chairs the Judiciary Committee charged with recommending to the House of Representatives what shall be done about President Clinton's sexual peccadilloes. This will not be the first time that Mr. Hyde will have to make a decision about what to do in regard to an elected official whose sexual activities are out of line with publicly approved moral standards. In 1983, he had to pass judgment on the behavior of Rep. Dan Crane, a fellow Republican from Hyde's very own state of Illinois who was charged with engaging in an affair with a 17-year-old page in the House of Representatives.
