Moss pushing plan for theme park at Metrozoo

Times Staff Writer
Miami-Dade Commissioner Dennis C. Moss of District 9 in South Dade is pushing his plan to convert Metrozoo into a premier regional theme park similar to Busch Gardens in Tampa or Disney's Out of Africa in Orlando.
He would like to see Metrozoo become a multi-themed park that would consist of an African animal experience, a simulated South American rain forest and thrill rides.
He would also like to see a state-of-the-art water theme park located at Larry and Penny Thompson Park, along with the inclusion of the Gold Coast Railroad Museum and a proposed Richmond Naval Air Station Museum.
