One doctor claims his plan, a protein diet plan, helps people lose weight by eliminating high carbohydrate foods and replacing them with foods that are high in protein, like beef, eggs and cheese.

In his book, "The New Diet Revolution," Dr. Robert Atkins said people can lose weight quickly and easily by restricting the amount of high-carbohydrate foods they consume, like bread and pasta and replacing them with high protein and, in some cases, high fat food such as beef and pork and even butter and mayonnaise.
