Defining Asian American: Traditions and Images in the Mind of a Student
The recent UW controversy regarding the down-sizing of two Asian American classes (AAS 205 "Asian American History and Culture" and AAS 206 "Contemporary Issues of Asian American") have angered many students who felt their voices were not being heard by the university. I had not cared about the subject one way or the other until the passing of the Lunar New Year this last weekend when I realized the controversy takes on an even bigger meaning than cutting two of the most popular classes in the American Ethic Department (AED) at UW.
