In Memory of Tia: Black organ donor foundation receives honors
The Tia Nedd Organ Donor Foundation was honored recently at the National Donor Recognition Ceremony in Washington, D.C. for its continuos efforts and support in increasing the number of African American organ and tissue donors in Michigan.
The Foundation was chosen by the Michigan Eye-Bank and Transplantation Center and will participate in a two-ceremony honoring Americans who have donated organs and tissue to save or improve the lives of others.
Last Year, there were only 17 African American (cadaver) organ donors in Michigan compared to 138 Caucasian donor. Tia Nedd, a 13-year old girl who died ...
