EEOC finds police department in violation

The federal office of the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission released findings this week charging the Baltimore City Police Department with discrimination against African-American police officers based upon their race.
The EEOC report released Dec. 22, were the result of complaints filed by former city police sergeant Louis Hopson, who was terminated after 18 years of service. Sgt. Hobson said the action taken against him was in retaliation for complaints he lodged against the department due to its discriminatory practices in the disciplining of Black officers.
