Senator meets with Indian women on bill for BIA office.

FORT DEFIANCE, Ariz. -- Navajo and Zuni women spoke out in favor of a Senate bill to establish an Office of Indian Women and Families in the BIA, stressing the need for funds and the teaching of traditional values to combat the rise in social and health problems.

"There is not enough attention directed to Indian women's health concerns," said Shiprock, N.M., councilwoman Charlotte Bradley.

"Like our Navajo neighbors we believe in strengthening our families and traditional values. We hope to get back to having our strong Zuni families again."
