Myrtle Whitmore, a retired expert on housing, often said as she campaigned for Rudy Giuliani's successful mayoral bid, that she wanted nothing in return except his ear at least once a month to articulate community issues.

But it seems that besides having his ear once a month, Whitmore, who was named Monday as a commissioner on the City Housing Authority, may have more frequent access to Hizzoner plus an annual salary of $100,000.
