The air was filled with anticipation at the Joseph Meyerhoff Symphony Hall where more than 1,800 fans had traversed icy roads and were battered by sub-zero temperatures to partake of operatic soprano Kathleen Battle's performance for the Morgan State University Performing Arts Series.
