His friends laughingly called him "Mighty Muscles" for his athletic prowess, as much in jest as in respect, for kicking a crushed soda-can puck down a yeshiva hallway during recess is about as close as any chasid gets to sports. His friends also recall that Aaron Halberstam, 16, his beard ungrown, would stay up till the wee hours of the morning talking about the aspects of God, the mystery of this world and other mystical worlds that were more real to Halberstam than most of this earth ever had a chance to be.
