`Daddy we hardly knew ya': Author examines how fathers bond with. daughters

Women have lots to say about their mothers. Just ask them.

But their fathers? Author Victoria Secunda can recite the sobering statistics: While 53 percent of women say their mothers were a "significant influence" in their coming of age, only 27 percent feel their fathers played a crucial role.

The figures, based on her own research, intrigued the journalist in Secunda, whose work has appeared in Woman's Day, Harper's Bazaar, Cosmopolitan and other national magazines.
