The super-wet week just endured was a dramatic reminder (as if we
had forgotten) of the profound effect of weather on every aspect of
human existence and activity. Storms with heavy rain and flooding
curtailed fresh- and saltwater angling during what is usually
sportfishing's prime time.

The trout stocking program suffered greatly. Crews were forced to
alter stocking times, locations, and quantities, and had to make
