PLANS to open group homes for Alzheimer's patients have caused an
uproar this winter in several North Jersey towns.

The list of complaints is long. Neighbors in some communities
say they were not notified before construction began. Some fear the
homes will bring traffic and disoriented patients to quiet streets, or
that nearby property values will go down. And concerns have been voiced
that patients won't get adequate care.
