CEMOTAP pickets Daily News over Caldwell.
At 10 a.m. Tuesday, more than 50 demonstrators from CEMOTAP (Committee to Eliminate Media Offensive to African People) and their supporters marched outside of the Daily News office at 220 W. 42nd St. CEMOTAP co-chair-person and demonstration organizer, Dr. James McIntosh, said "The purpose of today's demonstration is to express our outrage at the Daily News firing of columnist Earl Caldwell and to protest the Daily News' racist coverage of African people."
According to McIntosh, "Caldwell was fired for exposing a media coverup of a case called the Rockaway Five." The Rockaway Five are five Black men ...
