Caribbean poet awarded Neustadt prize.
The Caribbean poet, E. Kamau Brathwaite, professor of comparative literature at New York University, has been awarded the 1994 Neustadt International Prize for Literature, sponsored by the journal World Literature Today and the University of Oklahoma, in recognition of his outstanding achievement in poetry and conferred solely on the basis of literary merit.
