East Lake has a storied, up-and-down history in Atlanta.
The community, situated in the easternmost reaches of Atlanta proper, in DeKalb County, was once basically a suburb. It was during this time in the first half of the century that legendary golfer Georgia Tech's Robert "Bobby" Jones, then the best golfer in the world, was dominating the peaceful links of the East Lake Country Club.
