POINT BLANK: English only - Tagalog taboo.

Filipinos and other minority groups are waiting for a definitive ruling by the United States Supreme Court on the legality of company policies requiring workers to speak English only on the Job.

Last Jan. 31, nine Filipino employees of a Contra Costa convalescent home, together with their AFL-CIO union, sued the Casa San Miguel in Superior Court in Concord for discrimination against Filipino workers. They had been disciplined by the care-home management for speaking Tagalog in the workplace.
