Parole Board decision is abuse of discretion
In a recent case decided March 19, 1998 in Wayne County the Honorable Marianne O. Battani ruled that the Michigan Parole Board abused its discretion by continuing the incarceration of Emanuel Bonner for the seventh time taking the prisoner seven years beyond his minimum sentence imposed by the court.
The court stated, "I believe this 7th continuance rises to the level of abuse of discretion. It appears that there in nothing the appellant (Prisoner) can do, short of becoming a choir boy, to satisfy the parole board that he is eligible for release.
