To the naked eye, it would have seemed like just another parade for
a sports hero, with people lining both sides of a street and cheering
for an athlete who brought home a championship.

But to the Cuban-Americans on Bergenline Avenue Tuesday, "El
Duque" means much more than baseball, the New York Yankees, or a World
Series trophy. The name is a symbol of what Cuba could have been without
communism.
