Filipino American Chosen For Ethnic Studies Post.

BERKELEY (C) -- A Filipino has been selected to fill the teaching post at UC Berkeley left vacant by last year's bitterly contested tenure denial of another Filipino.

UC Berkeley's department of ethnic studies has chosen Enrique Bonus, a UC San Diego communications doctoral candidate, for the assistant professorship in Asian American studies.

Pending completion of his doctorate, Bonus is expected to take over the position once occupied by Amado Cabezas, who was denied tenure last June 30.
