I need to post a sign above my telephone. It will say, in very
large letters: "Caller ID, Caller ID, Caller ID."

You see, I keep forgetting about the 300,000 folks out there who
have equipped their homes with this fiber-optic moat.

That means I've failed to absorb a central fact of modern
telephonic communication: There is no such thing as an anonymous call.

Call the video store to ask if a certain title is in stock ... and
they may know who you are. Respond to a help-wanted ad ... and they may
know who ...
