Bowling balls have become as sophisticated as any piece of sports
equipment.

More than 100 new balls are unveiled annually, each promising to be
more powerful, each hailed as the best to handle current lane
conditions. Most top pros use from 20 to 100 bowling balls per year.They
are restricted to eight at a time in the locker room due to space
limitations. That translates into more than 1,500 balls worth a quarter
of a million dollars at any given moment in a pro tourney.
