Biographical: BUCK SHOWALTER
The fax said that Buck Showalter decided not to return as manager
in 1996. It said that his parting with the Yankees was amicable. It
added that Showalter was "flattered" by the largesse the great and
generous George M. Steinbrenner III, born on the Fourth of July and the
very best that America has to offer in the way of swell fellows, had
shown him.
Don't believe it.
"There will be no criticism of Buck in any way from me," the fax
from the Yankees ...
