FORT LEE -- Public school officials say they've turned the tide against an
outbreak of head lice that swept through the Lewis F. Cole Middle School
late last week.

By Monday afternoon, 36 of 38 students who were sent home with lice
eggs in their hair last week had been readmitted to class and declared
bug-free. Only seven new cases were found among some 270 students
examined Monday.
