FORT LEE -- After more than two weeks of anxious waiting, a police detective
has learned that he was not infected with the AIDS virus when he was
jabbed with a syringe while arresting a drug suspect.

Police Chief John Orso said Monday that tests confirmed that the
needle that jabbed Detective Leonard Cottrell on Nov. 24 was not
contaminated with HIV, the virus that causes AIDS.
