It was a year that taught us lessons that should not be forgotten,
so that we don't repeat the mistakes or fail to take advantage of the
accomplishments. For New Jersey Latinos, events recorded in this column
in 1995 should serve as a guide for a better 1996.
In Union City, those who struggled to open a Hispanic theater
learned that the struggle to keep Teatro Jose Marti open was much harder
than they had imagined. The theater closed within a few weeks of its
grand opening.
