Our first visit to Cosenza's, a delightful Italian neighborhood
restaurant in downtown Hawthorne, did not begin auspiciously.
We approached shortly before the prime dinner hour of 8 p.m.
Outside, on a ladder next to the front door, a man in chef's whites was
hoisting a plastic banner advertising lunch specials.
Apparently, he had time on his hands. Inside, only one of two dozen
