Environmental bill wins OK from lawmakers.

The Florida House passed a bill that signaled the beginning of significant progress in the effort to provide environmental equity.

State Rep. Josephus Eggelletion Jr. (D-Lauderdale) shepherded his environmental equity bill through the legislative process. It passed the House unanimously. It also passed the Senate and went to Gov. Lawton Chiles for his signature.

The Senate sponsor was Sen. Bill Turner.
