When area social service agencies and charitable organizations set
their tables and open their cupboards for the needy Thursday, there's
one thing they can count on: more people than before.

"On Thursday we plan to do what we do every day of the year -- serve
a meal to more than 240 people," said Rose Myers of Eva's Village, a
