LAST JUNE, Governor Whitman received a humanitarian award from The
Arc of New Jersey, an advocacy group for the mentally disabled. She
accepted the award at The Arc's annual fund-raising dinner, where she
was praised for being "a friend in the State House to people with
disabilities and their families."
