NEW YORK -- The Rangers had every reason to be encouraged Wednesday night,
when at 14:21 of the first period, Islanders goaltender Tommy Salo was
whistled for delay of game after shooting the puck into the Madison
Square Garden stands.

That gave the Rangers -- owners of the NHL's most effective power
play -- 1:40 of a two-man advantage and a chance to pad their 1-0 lead.

Salo, however, didn't cooperate. And that was the turning point in
the Islanders' 5-3 victory.
