Harkin Presses Child Labor Fight.

Senator Tom Harkin, long an advocate against child labor in India, returned recently from a trip that included meetings with international organizations to press his agenda.

Harkin, a Democrat from Iowa, has led the effort in the Senate to end child servitude and to halt the importation into the United States of manufactured and mined goods produced by children under the age of 15.

This has troubled carpet weavers in India as well as producers in a few other industries where child labor persists.
