NORTH BERGEN -- The township has become the first community in North Jersey to
declare it must increase taxes to pay for removing the snow that fell in
this winter's 12 storms.

The snow and ice blanketing the region likely will add up to a
$500,000 tax bite for North Bergen property owners, Township
Administrator Joseph R. Auriemma said.
