A pollen level of 5,401 grains per cubic meter of air measured in
Newark on Friday set a seven-year record for the area and may signal
more misery to come for allergy sufferers.

"The trend for the past three years is a higher and higher pollen
count," said Dr. Leonard Bielory, director of allergy and immunology for
the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey.

Bielory said he does not know the reason for the trend. A pollen
