POMPTON LAKES -- Seeking to trim the borough's defeated school budget without
damaging educational programs, the Borough Council voted for a $210,000
cut on Wednesday.
The council, in a 5-1 vote, acted after holding a public hearing
before a crowd of about 50 residents, at which the K-12 district's
budget was alternately blasted as a cause of higher property taxes and
defended as a legacy of stingy state aid.
