In a decision with far-reaching implications for labor negotiations
in the state's public schools, the School Ethics Commission on Thursday
voted to bar teachers who sit on school boards from voting on teacher
contracts in their districts.

The ruling extends to all school board members who belong to unions
and to any trustee married to a union member. The commission last month
