PATERSON -- A city councilman known for his conservative social views is taking
heat for suggesting that medical personnel allow AIDS victims to die,
rather than give them mouth-to-mouth resuscitation.

Councilman Thomas C. Rooney Jr., who represents the 6th Ward, made
the comment Aug. 15 during a hearing on the Fire Department's budget.
