SECAUCUS -- The Board of Education gave final approval Monday night to $125,000
in cuts from the district's defeated $11.6 million current-expense levy
but spared recreation programs for some 300 elementary school children.

Under a compromise reached last week by committees for the board
and the Town Council, the trustees agreed to fund the recreation
programs this year and the council promised to pick up the cost in 1992.
