'Soul Brother #1' Now Making Cookies.

James Brown's `Cookeez' Make L.A. Debut

Go into your local food market and search for a nationally-known product that has an African American identity. Until this summer, you would have come up empty handed. But now, thanks to soul singer James Brown, ``Cookeez" have arrived.

Unveiled nationally on the ``Today" show in June, the African American-made cookies come in eight versions, ranging from traditional chocolate chip to such special varieties as ``Sweet Potato Biteez" and ``Watermeloneez." According to local distributor Roosevelt Brown, the treats will appear on area grocery shelves in early August.
