Fattah to resign state senate seat Aug. 31.

West Philadelphia State Sen. Chaka Fattah, who is expected to easily win election to Congress this November representing Philadelphia's Second Congressional District, will resign his Seventh Senatorial District seat effective Aug. 31.
Fattah made his announcement Wednesday during a thank you dinner for Democratic ward leaders in his senatorial district over shrimp cocktails, fine wine and expensive food at the swanky Marker restaurant inside the Adam's Mark Hotel on City Line Avenue.
