Robert Maxwell's takeover of the New York Daily News in March,
three days before the tabloid's presses were to be silenced, made him a
hero to many employees and readers.

But after Maxwell's death at sea Tuesday, "the situation at the
Daily News is once again going to be in the spotlight, a question," said
media analyst David Leibowitz of American Securities Corp. in New York.
