FED: Newspaper stands by Mark Taylor no vote report
SYDNEY, Aug 8 AAP - A Sydney newspaper today stood by its claim that former cricket captain
Mark Taylor had been recruited by Prime Minister John Howard to campaign against the country
becoming a republic.
The Sun-Herald newspaper issued a statement standing by its report after the Prime Minister
and Taylor denied any deal.
According to The Sun-Herald, Taylor, who retired from all cricket in February, was set to
campaign for the Australians for a Constitutional Monarchy (ACM) to urge voters to oppose the
Republic at the November referendum.
