American hockey, which has had to overcome many obstacles to reach
its position among the world's elite, took another step up the ladder
Saturday when the United States beat Czechoslovakia, 3-2, to win the
bronze medal at the World Junior Hockey Championships in Fussen,
Germany.
Appropriately, the U.S. team was led by a man who knows a thing or
two about overcoming obstacles.
U.S. coach Walt Kyle was diagnosed with cancer in 1984.
