In the mid-Eighties, Dire Straits appeared to be the biggest band
in the world. Its 1985 album, "Brothers in Arms," had topped the 20
million sales mark worldwide. The British group's mammoth year-long
tour, which sold more than 3 million tickets to 248 shows, took them
around the globe.
