Dance Floor will try to waltz past 11 rivals Saturday afternoon in
the $500,000 Florida Derby at Gulfstream Park.
The Florida Derby, the first Grade I stakes of the season for
3-year-olds, marks a major fork in the "Road to the Triple Crown"
separating the contenders from the pretenders. In recent seasons, the
Florida Derby has been the springboard to Kentucky Derby victories for
Unbridled and Strike The Gold.
